The special mixes of materials designed by The Bio-Based Company are 100% biodegradable and consists of polymers bio-based and fibers derived from recycled biomass or minerals.
The result is the incredible characteristic of our materials to biodegrade naturally, in the soil or in the waters of rivers, lakes or oceans, safeguarding the health of the environment and its animals.
Biodegradable materials for eyewear
The Bio-Based Company® uses no fossil-based materials during production.
Glasses made from our compounds do not produce or release microplastics into the environment because they are naturally biodegradable in salt water and soil.
We produce biodegradable materials for all industrial production methods: our catalogue includes numerous blends and colours of pre-formed sheets ready for CNC cutting and milling or pellets for injection moulding.
Our know-how for the optimal set-up of traditional machines usually used in the eyewear industry is available to all our customers.
Spectacle frames according to ISO 12870:2016
Our ‘Bio’ frames are certified according to the ISO 12870:2016 standard, which specifies the basic requirements for unglazed spectacle frames designed for use with all prescription lenses.
Natural colour palettes
Usually opaque white tending towards cream is the natural colour of our polymers and is the basis on which we build a lot of colour variants.
The black color obtained by mixture of organic and inorganic pigments and is used to give the glasses their characteristic natural matt black colour or matt grey variants.
All colors used for the palette of our bio-glasses are of natural origin and are NOT harmful to environment and human health.
