The Bio-Based Company® srl is an innovative Start-Up formed by experts in the research and development of materials in their most eco-sustainable declinations, with a focus on Biodegradable Polymers of vegetable origin.
We have successfully completed the study and implementation of new materials and highly innovative industrial processes aimed at applications with Biopolymers of plant origin; collaborating as early as 2021 and obtaining national and international patents.

Today, we offer industry our expertise to change the approach to plastic use by replacing fossil-based polymers (which generate microplastics) with bio based polymers which are naturally biodegradable without the use of composting.

Giacomo A. De Marzo

CEO & Founder

He completed his classical studies and has been an entrepreneur in the field of new technologies for over 20 years. He collaborates with national and international companies in the fields of biotechnology and industry where he works as a consultant. He is the author of two international patents. He has founded and grown several successful start-ups in the field of AI and founded a company for the production of biodegradable paints.

Alberto Bianchi

CTO & CoFounder

He holds a Master's degree and a European PhD in Materials Science from the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany, and the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. He was a member of the recruitment committee from 2006 to 2008 and an adjunct professor in 2011-2012. He is the author of 12 scientific publications and four international patents. He is a member of the scientific committee of Federchimica. In 2015, he co-founded the Bicocca University spin-off Graftonica.

Vision

Rethink the use of plastic in the products we use on a daily basis, limiting the amount to zero as much as possible. We are absolutely convinced that the use of biodegradable materials is the only way to save the environment and oceans threatened by petrochemical-derived macroplastics and microplastics and that these must be abandoned by industry as soon as possible.
